Located approximately 20 Miles to the north east of Key West at Lat: N 2439.5 Long: W
08126.5 or between mile markers 24 and 25.5 on the Overseas Highway is Summerland
Key.
Summerland Key is a quaint little fishing island with some of the deepest draft canals and
most elegant estates in the Lower Keys. For a small island, Summerland is the second
largest business hub in the Lower Keys. Restaurants like the Galley Grill, The Warf,
Sugarloaf Food Company, Crab Shack, and Slice of Paradise Pizza make this island very
self contained should you choose not to leave. Banking and shopping on the island are easy
as everything you need is within a short bike ride or walk from your home. The local
post office on the island serves all of the 33042 zip code and includes the Torches, Ramrod
Key, Cudjoe Key and Sugarloaf Key.
Easy deep water access to the Atlantic and Gulf on blue water flow through canals where
big boats are not a problem is what attracts many to this island. Kayaking to nearby
offshore islands on the ocean side or bayside is easy too. The water access is what keeps
property values very stable on Summerland Key. Niles Chanel is the body of water to the
north of Summerland Key and to the south of the island is Kemp Chanel. Both provide
good boating access to the backcountry and the Gulf of Mexico.
Open water estates line the island along Niles Chanel and can be seen when crossing the
Niles Chanel Bridge as you enter onto the island. Many of these estates are gated and
enjoy a south east exposure. Also on the island is an airstrip,
Summerland Key Cove
Airport, where you can fly in and then leave on your
boat or yacht. Many of the homes on the airstrip are hanger homes where the owners park their airplanes below the living quarters. Because of the diversity of homes on this Key, prices
range from just over $400,000 to over several million.
